With its exceptional location on the Côte de Beauté, La Palmyre Zoo is nestled in an 18-hectare natural site with landscaped gardens designed to reproduce the animals’ natural habitat as closely as possible. Our campsite near Royan is just a 20-minute drive from the site!
A veritable window on the fauna of 5 continents, you’ll discover over 1,600 species, many of them endangered: Asian elephants, polar bears, Bornean orangutans, Madagascar lemurs and Caribbean flamingos rub shoulders with Nepalese pandas and African zebras.
The Zoo de la Palmyre‘s flagship attractions are the parrot and cockatoo shows, as well as the cockatoo show, which appeal to young and old alike. These intelligent animals put on real shows that will have you laughing out loud!

To get the most out of your visit, we recommend arriving early, when the animals are most active. This will enable you to observe their natural behavior, before the afternoon heat arrives and some of them take their siesta.
Throughout the day, it’s important to take breaks to rest and hydrate. The zoo has several rest areas, ideal for a short break before continuing to explore. These moments of relaxation are perfect for regaining your strength and appreciating the lush greenery that surrounds the zoo.
In the afternoon, don’t miss the parrot and sea lion shows, one of the highlights of your visit. These animals always impress spectators, young and old, with their agility and vivacity. Be sure to check the show times and arrive a little early to take full advantage of these performances.
