Discover the Parc de l’Estuaire in Charente-Maritime

At the entrance to Europe’s largest and wildest estuary, the Gironde Estuary, in the heart of the Suzac forest, the Parc de l’Estuaire in Saint-Georges-de-Didonne offers a beautiful walk through the pine forest and just a few yards from the sandy beaches.
Explore the 4-hectare site and discover this exceptional protected natural area, with its limestone cliffs, Mediterranean-style woodland and sandy conches, to gain a better understanding of the Gironde estuary.
To round off your visit, take a break at the park’s tearoom , with its lovely terrace overlooking the estuary, and indulge in organic drinks before heading back to the campsite near Royan!

What to see at Parc de l’Estuaire?

The Parc de l’Estuaire, in Gironde, is full of fascinating discoveries, between nature and history. The Suzac forest trail plunges you into the history of the local Mediterranean flora. This trail immerses you in the typical vegetation of the region, with endemic plants and varied landscapes, ideal for nature lovers. A stay at our campsite in Charente-Maritime means access to breathtaking landscapes in an unspoilt natural environment.

Don’t miss the Villa de l’Estuaire, a unique place where you can explore interactive exhibits, workshops and fun tours to understand the formation of the estuary and its ecosystem. The engine room, designed like a submarine, immerses you in the aquatic universe and surrounding landscapes, offering fun and education for the whole family.

Last but not least, a must-see viewpoint at Parc de l’Estuaire is the Tour de Guet, situated 60 metres above sea level. From this height, you can admire a breathtaking view of the Gironde Estuary, Cordouan lighthouse, Suzac forest and the surrounding coastline. It’s a spectacular panorama that will allow you to discover the region from a different angle, and soak up the natural beauty of the site.
